Back in LA for, oh, 24 hours. Very tempted to drive to San Fran right now to avoid another flight.... I Think i can hanle this short one. I remember when I was traveling the country in a van, playing everywhere possible. At the time my best friend was traveling by pplane all over the place for business, and when I told him how great that sounded - flying all the time and staying in a nice hotels - he said 'you get sick of it.' Well he was right, of course. The hardedst part is coming home and seeing your house/apartment.... so much rent, so much clutter - and I'm never here to enjoy it. no, the HARDEST part is what being away all the time does t relationships, love and otherwise. Being away so often, I find myself falling way behind in the goof friend department. Going t work on that.
Richmond Virginia, Charlotte NC, and Charleston, SC are all really beautiful. My next trip back there is going to include Ashville... now That's a cool town. I heard that singer/songwriter Gary Jules lives there now. Hey anybody out there ever skiied on Sugar Mountain?

Just finished at the Starbucks Coffee Festival here in Richmond, Virginia. It was beautiful out and we had to - reluctantly - play a first set in sunglasses.... it's kind of fun, but, as Dave pointed out, always makes you feel a little disconnected from the crowd.... We were running a little under for time, so I filled in with a version of "I Do". Aaaand we played Calling All Friends to open and close the show, just like real 70's rockers, haha. the sound was actually lovely for our ballads, and the people from Starbucks - i'm not saying this because they might be reading - were WONDERFUL to us. A really fun litte trip. ....Tonight, fancy dinner at a steakhouse, possible first cigar in two months, and then a quick sleep before a looooong day of driving. I'm off to Charleston to see family for a couple days before flying back to L.A. for another tuesday night at the Hotel Cafe with the Low Satrs....speaking of which, come down and say hi, won't you? I'm trying to book a few LArgo shows this summer, but right now I've nothing on the books...

Such a beautiful trip, but it's very good to be home... even if it's only for a few days...
Got a lot of business to figure out woth the LowStars and other things. I'm really wanting to get ten days together in Los Angeles so that we can put out this CUBE EP, at least digitally. As my supermanager says: "more music for people!" He's right, of course, I know. I just woke up after a short night's sleep in my own bed, and I have a bunch of emails to respond to , some missed birthdays, and one very disappointed friend whom I was suposed to call but flaked on. I was LA even though i wasn't in LA! Must. Leave. Soon. I'm working on it this time for real..

Last night in Toulouse was just wonderful. A big crowd of lovely people singing along to almost every song - especially at the end, singing All I Want To Do... I'll never forget that - thanks to all of you. ..The best part was that I went without any extra medicine, and although it wasn't comfortable, my voice really opened up halfway through the set. Being a hot saturday night in the south, the crowd and i acted a bit silly together and we did a three encores, which is almost comedy, really - -but it really felt like i was among friends. When they start singing "hey Jude", you know i have to keep coming back :) Bisous, Toulouse! It was a really satisfying end to a wonderful few weeks here in France. But he real reason for opening up my computer tonight is to say HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to my Mom, the greatest woman in the history of planet earth.... and to all your mom's as well..... AND to all of you who have little munchkins jumping around to Jude songs, Happy Mother's Day to you Moms!

OK. This is getting ridiculous... The countryside of France is as beautiful as you can imagine. The people are warm everywhere and offering me wine at every turn... and I'm STILL on these freaking antibiotics! aaaarrrrgggghhhhh. Apparently every time I fly this infection comes back a'ragin. My ears are still clogged, and every night is a pharmacutical adventure in trying to get everything to open up so I can sing well enough to perform. Last night's cocktail included some nasal sprays in random combo(lovely, I know), a touch of cortisone, pseudafed, and an assortment of throatsprays and lozenges while performing. Fun! ..... tonight I might go for another blast of ClaratinD. That always seems to combine with this heavy antibiotic in a way that makes me feel like George Jones onstage in the middle of a serious bender. Plus, even if it isn't as fun to sing when i don't have real control over my voice, after tonight I can rest it for a couple days before flying home to sing again.
JUst so you don't get too concerned ( and yes, I own a nettie pot - eeayew) the shows have been fun, and beside a touch of my flaring tendonitis, this old man is on the home stretch! Meylan was especially nice, with a grand piano and a small theater of seats. Limoge last night- what a darling crowd in that rock club.... and St. Etienne, so many people singing along at the festival that it made me feel like it was my own show - thank you all. .... now, if we could just sell some t-shirts...

Fun in St. Etienne last night. IF I COULD JUST SHAKE THIS F'ING SINUS INFECTION! too much flying. This afternoon we're in Meylan, hoping to get in a run in the clear, mountain air before playing tonight. They have a grand piano and everything set up, so I'll be clunking along in my own special way. All that's in my way for the run is that I forgot to pack shorts. so. It's pretty hot and sunny - pants are out. That basically leaves me with the ol' 2 boxers trick. This should look really coo. I always like to cross fields and stuff when I can, so the chances of me being arrested for trespassing s a crazy man in my boxers.... gotta think this through. Last week I went for a run in the woods near a venue, only because it was so beautiful. When I paused near a campsite I was surprisd to hear people yelling at me in French. Then I realized that I was wearing pants and must have looked like a freak. I just don't think of these things sometimes...

heading to St. Etienne tomorrow and then back out to meet many more of you across France. I'm looking forward to it. My hand is hurting, but my spirit is strong! ...Last week in Paris was the most beautiful I've ever seen. I'm trying to catch up with all my old friends, but as you may know, it's difficult, because coffee or even lunch with Parisians can take hours.... this is how I like it, so it's good. Bisous and all that stuff. Thanks for saying hi - I'll see you at the shows. ....And yes, Baton rouge, I'm coming back for a solo show - I swear :)

"Hi Jude, I just listened to the Low Stars interview/performance
on WFUV in New York and thought other Jude fans might
appreciate a link to the archive of it. It is located
at
http://wfuv.venaca.com/archive/6892.asx . FYI- I
also heard "Calling all Friends" on suburban NYC
station 107.1 The Peak, and was very excited to
finally hear your voice on the radio again!
Thanks for the music!

Flying home today. SO many wonderful notes and letters...we'll pick a couple more to share when I get back. How ridiculous is it that the hotel staff are all sicK, saying, "bon jour, Mr Christodal" in hoarse whispers? So of course I hardly slept last night with so much on my mind about life and just your basic night before Christmas going home after a month kind of excitement.... oh and maybe the small cigar at eleven didn't help... or the rare coffee that i had to stay up for a phone conference in the afternoon... The point is that you people are so wonderful to me, listening and sharing your lives with me in such cool ways - and all I do is find ways to keep getting sick and injured so i procrastinate playing where you are. In short, I'm an idiot. But I'm ok with it, as last night I found myself writing a couple new good lyrics, just when I thought they weren't going to come for a while...
OH! Someone has already seen and heard "Crescent Heights Shuffle" in the new Miller Beer ad over in Ireland during a big "football" match - as the Germans say, Supercool!
